Effective Low Back Pain Treatment: School of Healthy Living

Image: Health: Low Back Pain: Prevention and Treatment

Low Back Pain: Prevention and Treatment

Every person is unique and requires their own special, personalized  approach to heal any type of pain.

It is understandable that if we will only treat the symptoms and not the root cause, the problem will keep recurring. We need to eliminate the root causes of the problem to resolve the issue more permanently.

A few professional steps to obtain a long-term result are as the follows:
  • Taking a detailed history and diagnosing the development of the existing condition.
  • Creating a treatment strategy and pain management plan to address the source of the problem.
  • Educating the patient about how the problem developed;  the proposed individually tailored plan, and healthy habits to keep the back in a good physical shape, such stretching and the need to exercise.
To most accurately diagnose the problem, we provide qualified, professional medical staff and modern equipment to evaluate the condition.

Our physiotherapy equipment includes devices which, help not only help to eliminate pain, but also heal joints, muscles, tendons and peripheral nerves on a deep cellular level.

The objectives of physiotherapy equipment are as follows:
  • The reduction of inflammation and scar tissue;
  • Reduction of different kinds of edema;
  • Avoidance of  surgery with the help of our unique Radial Shockwave Therapy treatments;
  • Elimination of calcification caused by many chronic conditions;
  • Treatment of various arthritic problems without medication;
  • Rejuvenation of spinal discs;
  • Facilitate rehabilitation after the surgery even with implants;
  • Accelerate the healing process of fractures of other traumas;
  • And much more.
After you regain your health, our professional staff will tailor an individualized program for the strengthening the problematic area in the body and prevention of relapse.

It’s not a secret that the most effective help comes from highly educated professionals, but, also from an optimistic and caring team. Ancient philosophers and doctors would agree, and all of us at The Art of Life know it to be true from our personal experience.

Finally, we are happy to announce that everything mentioned above, is offered in our multidisciplinary clinic, which has almost 8 years of successful practice.

Low Back Pain: Prevention and Treatment

Every person is unique and everyone needs a special approach to heal any type of pain. It’s understandable that if we will only treat the symptoms of the problem, the disease will keep recurring. Eliminating the roots of the problem will resolve the issue permanently.

Educating the patient about the prevention of the problem, such as the need to exercise, stretching and other related issues, will help to keep a healthy condition of the back.

  • Creating a treatment strategy of the roots of the diseases and pain management plan.
  • Educating the patient about the initial issue that developed the problem and creating an individually tailored plan, of healthy habits to keep the back in a good physical shape.

To diagnose the problem, we need the highest professional level of qualified medical staff and modern equipment which will help to evaluate the condition of the affected area and the stage of the damage caused by the disease.

Our physiotherapy equipment includes devices which, help not only to eliminate pain, but also heal joints, muscles, tendons and peripheral nerves on a deep cellular level.  The objectives of physiotherapy equipment are as follows:

Event language: Russian

The miracle of my acquaintance with Mikhail Kazinik happened recently. The majority of people are prisoners of everyday life, hostages of gray daily routine. And how seldom can there be a meeting with a person who has the gift of breaking with the bonds of everyday routine - who, with his art and his way of life, creates different reality, in which there is a dream that has been realized, a miracle that has happened, "other voices, other faces" – revived… where the bygone time that became dear will approach you with stealthy step, and you'll embrace the time that is gone, the bygone time...such was for me the meeting with Mikhail.

Mikhail Kazinik has a unique gift - not only to talk simply about what is complex, but every time finding those exact words - the only correct, inspired, in sniper's way precise words - sometimes simple, and sometimes complex - that make the works of High Art not only understandable, but very attractive to the broadest circles of the audience, for whom - without the guidance of Mikhail's Word - those works would remain forever esoteric, an absolutely incomprehensible "glass-beads game".

The aura at Mikhail's concerts is beneficial and purifying for the soul. In our time the humanistic ideals of Good, Light and Beauty are desecrated and lowered to the level of banality by the cynicism of snobs and the ignorance of masses.  But Mikhail, with his Word, helps these ideals to be cleansed, and to again shine in their pristine splendour.

Imagine the Inspired Word - now descending to the depths, now ascending to the heights - and all this with virtuosity, with lightness, which is truly miraculous! Mikhail is a sorcerer, a magician, who opens with the Enchanted Word the hidden treasure troves of High Art for the multitudes of people - listeners of his concerts and radio programs.

Mikhail is a person of tremendous erudition, but the essence of his activity, that one can call a truly heroic feat, is not to demonstrate all this vast knowledge, but in his remarkable gift to "translate"  into a language, that the masses of the listeners can comprehend, those aspects of his colossal knowledge, that will make even the least initially prepared of his listeners start to listen, start to look - and ultimately - to understand those masterpieces of art, to which Mikhail tries to lead them!

Ours is the time of the crisis of Culture - crisis of global proportions. Mikhail Kazinik is one of those, about whom we can say: "The Catcher in the Rye" - from Salinger's novel - who, standing on the brink of the spiritual abyss, which is concealed by the "field of rye", and therefore, unseen by ordinary people - catches, saves people from falling into this abyss, and not only saves them from falling - but becomes the guide, who leads them to the path, that brings them to Culture, to spiritual transformation, to spiritual resurrection...

    "As you gradually free yourself from stress, you become healthhier, more resilient, confident, happier.
    Achieve more of your full potential.
    MINDFULNESS can help you get there."

    Mindfulness - the Art of Living in the Moment

    So what actually is mindfulness?

    Mindfulness means paying close attention to our own everyday experience; to all that we see, smell, hear, taste, touch, think and feel.

    Mindfulness was developed in many cultures, over thousands of years, and has been effective in bettering the lives of countless people. The skills of mindfulness are easy to learn.  Like learning to drive a car, our first attempts at being mindful are hesitant and as we progress we do it naturally. By learning to do this, we become more precise about, and open to all our experiences, large and small, pleasant, unpleasant and neutral. Gradually we discover that we experience life in a new way.

    Mindfulness does not ask us to believe in anything.  All we do is attempting to live in the moment. The more we practice living in the moment, the more we able to do it!  It gives us a feeling of freedom and ease.

    By learning techniques that anybody can do, we radically change the way we experience our own mind, body, emotions, our pleasures and pains, our relationships, etc.  We gradually open more fully to our life and discover how deeply fulfilling it is.  We become happier, more focussed, skillful, and compassionate.  We become better able to love and help others.

    Mindfulness can be especially helpful to those who experience anxiety and depression, chronic pain and illness, cardiac disease, the demands of caregiving, life threatening illness, grief, spiritual emptiness and difficulty finding balance in current lifestyles.

    Mind/body approaches work because they go beyond the physical to address the framework of habits and behaviors, i.e. neuropaths that impact our health. They teach individuals to break old and harmful cycle of stress-anxiety-physical tension-symptoms-disease and develop the new healthier behaviors.

    Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program

    We, at The Art of Life Community Health Centre set up the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program - a series of eight Mindfulness workshops conducted by Lou Carcasole, B.Sc, M.B.A, M.Ed for more than 5 years ago. Lou started his own Mindfulness training in 1987 with teacher Shinzen Young, an American meditation teacher and a Buddhist monk. Lou began teaching Mindfulness in 1996and since then he has taught Mindfulness to thousands of people in the Toronto and GTA area.

    In 1999, Lou trained with Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD, the founder and director of the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and he learned about the MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program). Based on Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn's renowned mindfulness-based stress reduction program, Lou began measuring results as objectively as possible, in attempt to quantify changes occurring as a result of the practicing Mindfulness. The results have always been positive, almost always impressive, and sometimes spectacular.

    New Mindfulness Programs

    This year along with the MBSR program The Art of Life offers Mindfulness-Based program for teens, which suffer from different health & psychological conditions (including ADD/ADHD) and would like to improve their lives.

    We also offer a new course “Parenting could be difficult – Mindfulness can help!”, recognizing the hard work and not easy life of some parents.

    Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Workshops

    The workshops will include discussion and practice of mindfulness. There will be time for questions and answers.  There will be suggestions for mindfulness techniques to use between workshops; at home or at work, while going for a walk or waiting for a doctor's appointment. Objective results measuring will be conducted at the end of the course.

    All programs framed in a 8-week course will start in a week after an Open House at The Art of Life CHC, 885 Don Mills Road, Suite 121, Toronto M3C 1V9 (Don Mills Road and Eglinton Avenue East, entrance from Wynford Dr. and Gervais Dr.).

    Most of the courses will take place on Tuesdays at different times although another day/time possibilities are negotiable.

    Suggested cost for new students - $300. For students who have completed previous the Art of Life Mindfulness courses - $150. No one with financial difficulties will be turned away; those who couldn't afford the fee they pay what they could afford for the course.

    Join us for eight workshops to start transforming your Life into Art!

    Healthier Relationships with Children through Better Understanding of Ourselves

    Leadership from Within – “Opening the Door to Healthier Relationships with our children through a better understanding of ourselves.”

    The 12 Dimensions of Relationship

    The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways, but narrower view points. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

    We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.  (Message from George Carlin)

    This Life-Shop  is about really getting down to the nuts and bolts of who we are, how we work. It is about developing an understanding of why we behave the certain ways in certain situations. Why experiences in our life and in our family keep on repeating themselves creating dramatic and tumultuous times in our lives. It is about creating this awareness so that we may begin to develop certain strategies on how to deal with those things that create pain and discomfort. It is said that these situations are there to help us learn our lessons.

    You can be certain that they will never go away but you can also be certain that as you do develop tools and practices that you will be able to manage these situations in a more masterful way. No longer will you be a slave to them. No longer will you find yourself in situations befuddled, frustrated and screaming out-loud, how did this happen to me again.

    We will take you through YOUR specific dimension and show you how to really have a greater understanding of who you are and how to master the nature of relationships that you attract into your life. The relationships with your parents, your spouses, your bosses and most important your children.

    This journey will happen on 3 levels:

    First Level - Development Stages of Life
    The first is identifying certain developmental stages that we go through in life. Like beginning to crawl, then learning how to stand up for who we are, how to deal with our obstacles, humiliations, crisis, etc; learning how to get really good and feeling comfortable with those around us; Learning how to be of help to others that are around us.

    Second Level - Dimensions of a Relationship
    The Second part is identifying the key Dimensions of Relationship those qualities that define who you are in the moment. Why we attract certain people, as parents, why we have attracted these specific children into our family.

    Third Level - Tools for Self-Discovery
    The third part takes you through some tools that will help you develop a greater understanding of who you are, tools that you can use to help navigate through your unique life experiences.

    You will then share your actual life experiences:
    • That will help yourself and others in their step by step journey;
    • That will help others feel better in the knowing that they are not alone;
    • That will help others shift and transform into someone who can better manage their own life and family situation and facilitate the next step for them to make!

    International Day for the Protection of Children and Our Involvement in the Nurturing of Young Talents

    One of the main branches of work at the non-for-profit organization The Art of Life Community Health Centre, is the development and facilitation of physical and psychological healing and wellness programs for gifted children. These programs make use of the best quality of natural medicine chosen specifically for the unique needs of children. Our choice to participate in their healing will give the kids a much needed chance at becoming free and independent citizens; our choice will determine the extent of their ability to realize their talents infusing life with much joy and harmony!

    Music helps our centre fulfill our mission of service to young talents, as the majority of funding for the development of programs for children comes from musical charity concerts. It is not a surprise that our supporting musicians: Rena and Rufat Amiralievs, Vasil Popadiuk, Efim Pustilnik and Naomi Striemer, being themselves talented and realized professionals, have also treaded the difficult path of self-actualization as internationally renowned artists; they understand and they are ready to help gifted children with various health challenges reach their inner-most dreams.

    The upcoming benefits concert, organized by the Art of Life Community Health Centre, will take place on June 1st of this year, on the International Day for the Protection of Children, to raise funds and awareness towards the development of much needed programs for young talents encumbered by various physical and social obstacles.

    This unique concert will feature the contemporary music of the amazing singer and song writer, Naomi Striemer, named the next Celine Dion. Her inspirational acoustic performances touch the hearts of listeners of all ages. The concert will also feature the much admired jazz musician, Efim Pustilnik, who was playing with the greatest Piano Player in the World  - Oscar Peterson and now has albums ranking in the top jazz music charts. Another budding young talent to share the stage with our professional performers, is Mark Krutik, who even at the tender age of 14 is already remarkably skilled at playing the trumpet. But, the concert is not only intended for music aficionados, but also for anyone wishing to give hope and extend a helping hand to children.

    By supporting talented kids, we warm up hardened hearts, bringing forth hope, the respect of our children, friendship and assistance of the community. We believe that participation and joint creativity will bring about a better future, laden with joy, security, new opportunities and abundant kindness.

    The concert promises to deliver happiness, but more importantly, the opportunity to take part in helping talented young children with anything that hinders their development.

    Come and join us! The kids are waiting for your involvement!

    The 'Joined Hands' benefit concert will take place on Saturday, June 1st, 2013 at 7:30pm in the Musical Hall of Christ Church Deer Park located at 1570 Yonge Street in Toronto, M4T 1Z8.

    As you know, on June 1st, 2013, The Art of Life Community Health Centre, in honour of the International Day for the Protection of Children and for supporting programs for gifted children with medical conditions, will be presenting a contemporary music charity concert 'Joined Hands' featuring Naomi Striemer, Efim Pustilnik and Sax Band. The benefit concert will take place in the Musical Hall of Christ Church Deer Park at 7:30 pm.

    Below is the Art of Life's Press Release Part One: There Are No Children without Talents

    International Day for the Protection of Children and Our Involvement in the Nurturing of Young Talents

    When your children are healthy, successful and talented, you, as parents are undoubtedly overjoyed. But, consider the fate of those parents whose child is seriously ill... Of course, they are still grateful for the opportunity to devote themselves to this precious being, becoming, perhaps, his only friends and companions, especially if this child is unable to relate to his peers. Mom and dad will celebrate his every accomplishment, at all art and music lessons, for there are no children who are without talents! We just have to notice and nurture their every spark of creativity, which will lead to a blooming gift.

    It is knows that very talented children perceive the world from a unique perspective, reacting to it in a non-standard way, this quality often prevents them from assimilating within their social environment. Their deeply sensitive perception of the world also leaves them extremely vulnerable to it, as the more extraordinary their thoughts and views, the more tension there is between them and their surroundings, and the heavier the stress that falls on their fragile physical and psychological health. However, these are the very children who will determine the course of the future of our planet, and older generations have already recognized the vital importance of these kids providing them with everything in their power on their difficult but crucially important journeys.

    Luckily, our own community is not without such enthusiasts, for whom these children are like brightly lit up stars, who can illumine our world, making it brighter and more joyful. We must only not be indifferent this time and extend a helping hand to these children, giving them hope for limitless creative potential!

    Each person can find at least a little bit of energy, time and resources to promote the growth of children, to give them, despite an illness, a chance at self-realization, to gain psychological stability, the ability to openly communicate with others and the strength to overcome all inner obstacles. Your help will allow talented individuals to become active members of our future society, offering all of humanity a chance to evolve towards a new level of consciousness.
